USPSA

Practical Shooters of Central Alabama - USPSA - PSOCA

United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) matches are held on the first Sunday of each month. Setup begins at 7:00 am on Saturday with target hanging at 8:00 am Sunday. Signup begins at 8:00 and closes at 9:30. Walk-ons are welcome before 9:30. Please sign-up on Practiscore. Shooter's meeting is at 9:45 and the match starts at 10:00. All times are Central time zone. All matches include a classifier.

Match fee is $20. Anyone who helps set-up on Saturday will shoot free. Let the match directors know you are coming Saturday if you are not a member as gate will be closed.

Practical Shooting attempts to measure the ability to shoot rapidly and accurately. Those three elements - speed, accuracy, and power - form the three sides of the practical shooting triangle. By design, each match will measure a shooter's ability in all three areas. Competitors move, negotiate obstacles, run, speed-reload, and drive their guns through each of several courses as fast as their skills will allow.

There are seven handgun divisions and one pistol caliber carbine division, each defined by the equipment used.

  • Single Stack
  • Open
  • Limited
  • Limited Optics
  • Limited-10
  • Production
  • Revolver
  • Pistol Caliber Carbine
  • Carry Optics

Go to uspsa.org for more information about the requirements of each division.

Since USPSA stages usually have a higher round count, you will need 3-4 magazines on your belt. You will only compete against those with like equipment.
